BT reduces cost and upgrades me...... result!

Hi everyone. I would just like to share with you all a result I had with BT. I had the Option 3 package which gave me unlimited broadband with evening and week end calls costing about £36 per month (I know, I know, I can get it cheaper but I've been there). I was having download problems and very unhappy about the free calls changing from 6pm to 6am to 7pm to 7am and a host of other niggly things. Well, I had enough and contacted BT to complain because their new customers were actually being offered a better deal than myself namely, free calls 24/7 to certain numbers and the unlimited b/b. I was fuming! After a few days I received a call from customer services and was told as I was a valued existing customer they could reduce my bill by nearly £10 per month and upgrade the package to FREE calls 24/7 (to 01,02,03,0845 & 0870 numbers) and keep the same B/B package. I agreed but, I did have to agree to a new years contract. I reckon this was a result! What do you think?
Always looking for a bargain :j

It's the same as the new customer offer. So reasonable...
I've just come to end of contract and am looking around BT have offered £3 per month discount bringing by Total Broadband Option 2 down to £18.50 per month. (Plus £13.80 per quarter for the landline.) Totalling £23.10 per month for landline, free evening and weekend calls and 40GB of Broadband. Still is quite expensive. Are there any other options worth considering?
I was thinking Tesco Broadband (unlimited) and landline (free evening and weekend) costing £19.40 per month (first 4 months free broadband saving £8 per month) but then I would lose my free BT Openzone minutes (which I use for a couple of hours each month). I'd lose outbound call barring which BT have included for free. I'd lose calling number display which is very useful and is also free. For an additional £3.70 per month I'm thinking of staying with BT. But I am more than willing to consider any options.
ETA: An extra £4 for unlimited calls with Tesco so £23.40 per month compared with £26 for BT so your extra cost is only slightly less at £2.60 per month.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)

Just check first that your exchange is unbundled by O2 - If it isn't then O2 via their standard ADSL are pants!!:eek:0
