Application for Vanquis Credit Card

I applied for a Vanquis credit card (to try and help clean up my credit file) on 14th April 2011 and called them this morning as I havent heard anything so far.

They explained they have sent out a letter a day or two ago asking for ID which I need to provide for them to continue with my application. I havent received the letter yet and am an impatient lassie so was wondering if anyone on here could help me with a couple of questions??

Does anyone know what ID they will require from me??

Does this mean that my credit search must be "good" enough for them to even bother asking me for ID?? (ie once I have provided it will I probably get accepted)

If they want ID then they haven't found anything they object to on your credit file, just a lack of information to verify you electronically.

This means if you send them satisfactory documents they should issue the card. They've already done the credit check.

Acceptable ID would be bank statement, credit card statement, council tax / water statement (none of these can be printed from online)

They may also want a certified copy of your passport or drivers license atop a bill.

And later, if you run up a balance on the thing they will require blood, your first born and your kneecaps.

I applied to capital one and also got a letter asking me to provide identification.

One has to be either a photocopy of a passport or driving licence

the 2nd is a utility bill, bank statement etc etc

Oh well fingers crossed once I have supplied them with necessary info I get it. I pay all my other bills and everything on time these days but dont have anything like loans/credit cards etc and think this would help me clean up my file a bit.
