We have scouring the market for the last 6 months and have yet to find anything suitable and that is reasonably prices (average house has been on the market for 37 weeks).
Where I grew up, there is a derelict house that has stood empty since the creditors served notice 6 years ago.
What is the possibility of purchasing this house and how is the best way to go about it?

Thanks G_M, knew you'd be the one to reply :D

I know the owner, he has said he doesn't own it anymore, its the finance company. I think he'd just had enough (divorce etc) and walked. I have emailed GE, hopefully they'll get back to me.

Do you think he still 'owns' it, or is it the finance company?

    Cheers

You seem to have answered your own question!

Look up the number for GE and ask the switchboard for the repossessions dept. No guarantee they'll put you through and if they do no guarantee they'll talk to you.

    But they might.
