What's this likely to be?

On the back of my house by the kitchen window there are 2 white board panels that are nailed on to the wall. They are both about 12 inches wide by 8 high. They are both below window height although a few feet apart from each other and slightly different heights.

The wall has lots of bodgy type repairs where pipes have obviously been then replaced, and TBH I am scared to prise these things off in case something expensive is behind them, but worried about leaving them in case something expensive lurks in the future due to ignoring them! (I have just had to spend my last penny reparing another bodge job and am now broke). They are pretty unsightly.

Also there are lots of nails and screws etc in the brickwork and mortar - am i best leaving them or removing them?

Any ideas??

He he he! Just thought someone may have come across this weirdness before. TBH this house is turning out to be an education in weird costly things that can go wrong or were done badly.

Must be for midgets as they are below kitchen window height, or the kitchen would have to be on the first floor.

I suspect somone has blocked up a couple of air-bricks.

No problem if you have a sealed central heating system, not so good if its a very old boiler, you have a gas hob or a gas fire.

Take them off and see what is beneath. If it's anything important then you can replace them if necessary or leave them off if there is nothing that matters, to be seen.
