I opened this account last week. My criteria for the account was..
a) local and easy and accessible for me to deposit the contents of my penny jar... can't get any closer!
b) I want to pay my bills online through the bank account.. you know the 'transfers and payments' facility thingy..
Well... I log in .. and there is no 'transfers and payments' option... so what is going on??
This is the one reason I needed another account so I could use my hard saved pennies to pay off my debts sooner and now it would seem I cannot do that and have completely wasted mine and the banks time by opening the account because if I can't do this it is of absolutely no use to me.
I rang them and they said.. 'the option must be there because it is our facility' ... but it isn't.
I have even been to my mothers and made her log in to her account so I could see what is wrong with mine.. and this is it.
Anyone got any advice that doesn't require going in to the branch and logging in there and showing them the option to make payments isn't there?
I don't have an overdraft, a cheque book, a debit card or any payments other than cash going through the account though I did say I could transfer the child benefit payments over if they required something to go in... I don't know if this would make any difference.
TIA
xx

It is not available for basic account holders yet.
If you had waited until middle of month then things are about to change - don't know whether this will apply only to new acounts or will also apply to existing accounts.
At the moment you cannot open an online saver either.
You can still use telephone banking to set up bill payments.0 -
so why, after I told them this was specifically what I needed would they open an account which is essentially completely useless???
Other than they are as stupid now as they were 12 years ago when I closed my account with TSB.. I think I have just answered my own question.. lol
If that is the case I shall be in there like a flash on Monday closing said account!

There must be a reason why only a Basic account was offered.
Even if you went in asking for one they would credit score (like all customers) you and the type of account available would appear at this time. Were you offered any other type of account?
If you have a good credit score then a classic a/c would have been better for you because it has complete internet access.0 -
I haev no idea. I am going in to the branch tomorrow to kick up a fuss (my speciality) and if they don't make it possible for me to access the services they said I could access I will simply close the account.. probably the shortest life of an account ever.. 11 days lol.
We shall see I guess.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0
