Interesting few days on the financial front. Been enjoing a nice drip-drip of sales on eBay and also got my first survey payment through.
The two bigs things are though that I have appplied for second part-time job that is perfect for me in so many ways and that I am totally suitable for and it pays good too. I hope I get an interview!
Secondly, I've been thinking a lot about how to cut expenditure even further and decided I couldn't justify £30 a month on my hair anymore, so yesterday I got it all cut off. From now on it'll just cost £5 every six weeks or so.
Busy today making the most of free listings.

Pleased to update that I got an interview for the new jobs and did well enough to be asked back for the second stage interview. Whoop! Very excited and very nervous! Fingers, toes etc crossed that it goes well.
Ebay going well, Amazon dried upThe no spending regime is going well too. Only shopped 3 day this month an each time it was under a tenner.
Some good news on the bills front, had a massive £230 rebate from the leccy boardand monthly payments going down by £25 - just goes to show how inaccurate estimated bills are. Will be putting the extra money either on my credit card or hubby's depending on how soon his new 0% interest card comes through.
Still have heaps of junk to put on eBay, hope to get a chance to do some today.- Mortgage over-payments to date: = £16,746

Just a quick check in, had second interview today and am so chuffed that they offered me the job! This will really help turn our finances around. Don't know exact figures yet but should hopefully get about £500 a month - which'll all go on th credit card bill for a good few months. More tomorrow - typing this on phone.

Really wanted to make the most of free listings on eBay this weekend, but just been a bit too down due to TWO buyers wanting to return items. I did one straight away because their complaint about a dress I sold could have been genuine, but the other one is just taking the p*** to be honest. They took ages to pay me, then they claimed the item I sold was fake (which it is not - who would bother to make knock off make up brushes?) their feedback is private (which means I can't warn others how much of a nightmare this buyer is) and they left really horrible negative feedbak with eBay is refusing to remove.
Anyway....
On the positive - I am so delighted about the new job I used a NI and Income Tax calculator that said I should take home £589.93 a month. This is great! It'll all be going on the CC debt for the first few months of course. But it'll take so much pressure of us.- Mortgage over-payments to date: = £16,746

congratulations on getting the job:j.
Your making great progress and seem really determined to shift your debt, don't let one idiot on ebay ruin it, you will find that every now and then you will get a complete ar$£ of a buyer, i think everyone that sells on ebay has had them at some point, know i have had my share, its best to try and forget about it and move on.
Your OH sounds like a star and its great he is so supportive.
Keep your chin up and keep going you will get there, hope you don't mind but i've subscribed and will keep popping back in.0 -
I meant to make a longer post last night, but had to go in a hurry as Hubby had done the dinner and it was just ready.
Thanks for dropping by PennyWise, much appreciated. Yes, my OH is a gem and I am very very lucky indeed.
We looked at the surplus in the joint account and decided it would be ok to put the £228 electricity rebate plus an extra £272 on my credit card, so the balance now starts with a 6 instead of a 7, which is very nice psychologically. After pay day next week I should be able to but at least another £600 on.
I have tried to get to grips with my debt many times over the last 5 years to so, but never managed it until my OH started to help me. When I look back at all I wasted I feel really ashamed. But Im doing my best to make ammends now.
PennyWise, thanks for the encouragement about eBay - I know I shouldn't let a couple of numpties get to me. On the whole the ebaying thing has been going well, we've made enough money to sort out our back yard and already made a start on saving towards getting our fire sorted out. I'm looking on eBay for a cheap second hand stove rather tha the new one I originally wanted just so that we can keep costs to a minimum, but the work inside the chimney itself can't be scrapped on, and it's going to cost about £800 I think.
I read something that another member siad one one of the other boards, about being tempted list on eBay anything that's not nailed down - and that's really where I am at the minute.- Mortgage over-payments to date: = £16,746

Not much real 'news' just a few small developments. OH has been helping with the eBay listing - latest count is about 27 items yesterday and today. This is lovely, as I find the whole thing SO mind-numbing and it really makes me feel like 'we're in this together'. Roll on a week's time when the sales start flooding in (hopefully!)
Got first P1neC0ne payment through-- Luncheon Vouchers !?! - seriously? How long do you have to be with them before they make PayPal payments? Not going to count them towards my extra money making target as I can't spend it on my back yard project or pay it of the CC debt.
Pay day is tomorrow - woop woop. Paying nice big chunck off credit card debt, then back to being skint. Glamourous life of a debt free wannabe, eh?- Mortgage over-payments to date: = £16,746

I've just stuck another ten items on ebay so we've met the 100 free listings target this month - with a few days to spare. There's 61 listed on there atm with 10 sold at over £40. Most have best part of a week to go so expect at least £100-150 off that lot. Though there is a fair bit of tat in there, but I am fast learning not to underestimate just what people will actually buy on ebay. Unbelievable.
We are very much 'in it together'. For me, it's very much not about arguing about who got us here, but working together to get us out. And after you've paid off that chunk of the debt we aren't back to being skint, we're closer to not being skint again
Latest calculations put DF day as soon as January next year - just eight months away0 -
Well HELLO!
Realised earlier that today is actually a MAJOR financial milestone for me.
It'll be the first time in 12 years that my account is in the black when I get paid at the end of the month (tomorrow) There's only a fiver in there (with a tenner owing me from the eBay p&p) but still its the best shape it's ever been since I have had an overdraft facility.
