Router can't connect to internet

My router (Belkin) was working fine Sunday afternoon, but I haven't been able to connect since then. I've changed filters, leads, and telephone sockets. I don't have a master socket. Every so often it hunts for ASDL line, but fails the connection. Is it my router or ISP (TalkTalk)? What can I try next? I'm piggybacking on next doors network at moment, but can't keep doing that! She's TalkTalk too, and she says it's slow to connect but does get there eventually. Any advice please, I'm desperate. Thanks.

Ask to borrow her router and see if that works.

Hello, how many lights on your router? Also is your phone working ok?

Phone OK, only Wi-Fi, security, and laptop lights, no others. I've tried simple reset, reset to factory, still no joy. I can see it trying to connect, very annoying. Next door keeps disconnecting, hence delay between responses. Might try library tomorrow. Don't want to get new router, transfering ISP next month, router supplied then.

Try phoning belkin- they're really helpful. They actually replaced mine within a week when it died, and this was a good few years after I'd bought it.

I too am with Talktalk and had problems last week with it being very slow although *touch wood* it seems better now

Thanks, I'll do that. My printer won't answer me either, and I don't have one of those cables.

After lots of calls to both Belkin and Talk Talk I finally managed to get online on 29th :j (for at least 12 hours), but it went off at 13.00 Saturday, and nothing since:(:(:(. Belkin says router fine, TT say line OK, they are sending me a new router. Can I ask the techies on here if the fault is likely to be something at my exchange? TT are saying its the router, but I don't even get a ADSL line when I try connecting a modem, the light just flashes. Any ideas welcome, but it will take me a while to respond, as I'm still using next doors connection, and don't like to be on too long. Many thanks, fp.

Either the router is shagged or you have a fault on the line/exchange/handover to TT, etc (my money is on the latter).

Using a known good router will prove one way or the other for sure.

As for TT telling you it's your router, don't believe a word the "yes/no script monkeys" tell you....there's a good reason they are only paid just above minimum wage.
