Any technical folks out there that can help me with a starting problem?

Hi ... Apart from taking the skin off my knuckles and tearing a tendon in my elbow I am at the point of giving away our quad bike.
We have a Yamoto 250 used to pull a trailer around the field but it will not start by the electric start button, only by either bumping or pull start; The pull start option is now non existent as that went with my elbow (physically broke) so it's down to bumping but if you miss it on the first go then you need a lot of puff to get it going!!!
I have changed the plug and I know it sparks on the electric start button, I took this out and earthed on chassis. All the obvious things are ok, petrol, choke etc. but still it will not start on the button, but will do on the first pull or first push. It is only a year old and covered only about 20 hours use.
Now the arm is out of use I need to get the electric starting fixed, any ideas?
All other technical help on the web want to charge for advice so thought of the trusty folks here who may be able to help me.
Thanks in advance.
David
