Aktiv Kapital , HELP PLS

Options
I received a letter a couple weeks ago from activ kapital saying i owed them around £200.00 GE capital debt. they said if you pay now you only have to pay £120.00. I totally forgot to call them . I cant even remember what the debt is. I received another letter today with 'to avoid a home visit' in the right hand side. Can someone advise what i should do next. Do i send them a prove it letter and do i have to send a £1.00 postal order. if anyone has a template of the letter that would be great.

Thanks

    Template for "Prove-it" letter here....

No, you don't have to send them any money at the moment, that's only if you want a copy of a CCA.

If AK are offering a discount, it's highly likely that either

    a) they have absolutely no proof of this debt and they are just trying it on, or...

    b) They know it is so old that it's statute barred and they are just trying it on.

Don't call them, keep a copy of the prove-it letter and send it by recorded delivery so that it is signed for at their end and they can't deny receiving it.
And don't worry about any "visits", I doubt that they will bother and if they do, tell them to bog off!

thanks alot, really appreciate your help. I use to hate calling debt collectors. I was in a lot of debt years ago but i thought i had cleared everything. Will send a 'prove it letter' and see what they say. do i need to send it special delivery or just recorded signed for.

In regards with my first post i sent a prove it letter and received a letter back from aktiv kapital saying they couldnt supply the documents due to the age of the account and they have ceased all further collections activity in regards to the debt.
But then today i received a letter from CCScollect (debt collector) saying that aktiv kapital have authorised them to collect the debt owed. They have gave me 7 days to pay for it. Can someone pls be so kind and help me in regards what to do next.Any help would be great.

Oh dear. It appears that as AK knew that they have absolutely no rights to take any money from you, they have flogged on the "debt" to another DCA who are now trying their luck.

To be honest, if it were me, I would completely ignore these letters. Unless they start hassling you on the phone, then why waste any more money on sending letters stating that you have no knowledge of the debt?

Don't worry about their "7 days to pay" and whatever, if AK have no proof that you owe the debt, then CCScollect won't have it either. Just bin the letter, you may not even hear anymore from them. Let them waste more of THEIR money chasing this non-debt, if you really feel that you have to reply, simply send them the "prove-it" letter too, let's face it, we all know that they can't! :rotfl:

    Agree with thechippy here.

Send them a copy of the Aktiv letter with a note asking them what the *** they think they are doing.

    Or just ignore them.

I expect CCScollect were instructed before Aktiv abandoned the account, and they just haven't got the message yet. Does make both sides look like fools though, which is never that difficult....

  • Hi, it's the first time, I've posted something so not sure that I've done it correctly ~ anyway, the reason that I'm posting, is that I've received a letter from Aktiv Kapital addressed to me in my maiden name (I've been married 15 years) saying that I owe over £2,500 which relates to a Bank of Scotland account.

I was quite irresponsible in my early 20's, so perhaps I did owe money to them back then, but that is over 20 years ago now! I'm now obviously, more responsible and married with children, so haven't got spare cash ~ can they really chase a debt which is so old? Shall I just ignore it?

Your responses would be appreciated ~ thank you.
