Last minute journey to London
Options
I'm planning a last minute trip to London tomorrow and I'm just wondering if anyone can help me find cheap train tickets.
Travelling from Birmingham International (BHI). Two Adults, one 16-25 railcard. Would like to arrive by about 12:00 or earlier. Would like to get the train back somewhere between 18:00 and 20:00.
Ideally we'd go on Virgin as it's faster but we don't mind taking the London Midland one of the directions to keep the cost down.
So far it's looking like the 10:05 London Midland there and then the 19:43 Virgin back for a total of £47.30. Can anyone do any better (or do Virgin both ways for not much more)? Are there any splits that might work?

Stick with your 10:05 outward train.
Advance Singles = £15.75.
Return on the 19:54 London Midland departure.
Advance Singles = £15.75.
So total return for two adults with one railcard = £31.50.
Must buy those tickets before 6pm today.0 -
Hmm don't really want to have to do London Midland both ways, it takes an extra hour. Thanks though.0

Chiltern from Solihull could be an option actually. Since when have they been doing it in less than 2 hours? It's getting more complicated and 6pm is approaching!0

Your post appears to suggest that Chiltern Railways sell Advance tickets? This is not the case.

There was nothing cheap enough for the OP when I checked last Tuesday, but they are available on some dates next week.0 -

Lose: no longer possess, not to retain, unable to find
Loose: not firmly or tightly fixed in place0 -

Also OP travelled last week.Whoa! This image violates our terms of use and has been removed from view0 -
Apologies; yes I see they do Advance tickets. My mistake. It's been a long time since I travelled with Chiltern! I've re-checked in Avantix and they are there, if you scroll right across and to the bottom! oops!0
