Natwest bank and stupid charges

Hi

Quick story

I accidentally wrote a cheque from my wrong natwest account , basically it bounced and I received a £5 charge , which was fair enough as it was my error. I phoned them up straight away and he told me to just pay the £5 in from my normal natwest account and It will be fine.

Anyway , later that day I transferred over the £5 and thought nothing of it.

Then the following month I got a £20 charge.

I phoned in an explained that I put the £5 in and they told me I got the charge because I didnt put the £5 in by 3pm on that day , I paid it in at 5pm. I argued and said no one told me it had to be by 3pm. Anyway they refused to do anything and I refused to pay the £20.

The account is now -£684 , which is ALL charges from that £5. Ive tried repeatedly to get somewhere with this with bank manager/natwest etc ect and they have done nothing.

I just got a letter today saying another £184 has been added to to the total and they have supplied me with a default.

I have been with natwest for 15 years or so and NEVER have I had any charges , any bounced cheques , NOTHING in that entire 15 years and then they do this to me. Even the bank manager told me my in house credit rating with them was spotless.

I have withdrawn all my money from my account with them and am now banking elsewhere.

This is beyond madness , as stated above the charges now stand at £684. what the hell can I do? surely they cant get away with this?
