used to be the best, tried some ordinary ones (vidal sassoon) recently and they were nowhere near as good.
So then I got some Carmen steam tongs off ebay but they arrived with no instructions, does anyone know how to get the steam?
I put the water in the little plastic cup at the top, tried pressing it and leaving it for ages but no joy. The barrel got hot though. Anyone else have these, or should I send them back to seller?0 -
I'm in the same situation except I'm buying my own straighteners!! If you go for the GHD's they have them in Tesco online where you can get triple points and also an extra 500 points with a code (sorry forgot what code is butit'll be on this site somewhere) so good if you are a points collecter. The cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow, For children grow up, as I've learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust go to sleep. I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep.0 -
I had GHD's for 6 years, dropped them several times (not tht I would reccomend to do this ) and are still as good as new!
Because of the Ceramic "technology" I would reccomend thongs which are ceramic coated too for best results (I dont think you wil find them 100% ceramic like the GHD)

although i know they rnt as much as your budget i would personally recommend the Wet2Straight ones by remington i think, (they have wide and thin plates). i think they were only £34.99 from amazon a while back, i paid £75 ( On offer in argos jan sales) 2 years ago when they first came out, they r still goin strong after me using them for approx 5hours a week. in my opinion these are as good as if not better than ghd's - none of them have been know to blow up as ghd;s have.
if i were you i would get a decent pair of straightners and curlin tongs not spending all your budget, then 10 mins after u have given then suprise her with a nice expensive piece of jewlery from h samuel or somewhere similar. IMHM i think any girl would like that (plus jewlery keeps some of its value lol)0 -
GHD straightners are the best and they have some good travel bags too. i bought my items both on ebay and got a pretty good deal and received next day.
There are pink ones out now but probably not in the wide version.
I have black ones and a beautiful pink travel bag which incorporates a heat mat. On ebay you can buy configerations that you can't in the salon for instance I bought the bag and accessories without the irons as I already bought them earlier. You could do the same as you want the wide irons rather than the regular.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0 -
Another vote for GHD's. Although unless her hair is pretty much an afro, she really doesn't need the wide ones, the thin ones tame even the bush that is on my head. Have had mine for nearly 4 years, and they're as just as good as when I got them, although a little battered looking. The blowing up thing is a problem with older models - the new ones should be fine.
Personally I would LOVE the bag and bits too, so would go for that.0 -
It's not the taking part but the winning that counts.0
