Question for the ladies.

My other half is wanting some new curling tonges and new straightners from santa this year but there are so many out there i have noidea were to start or which are the best.
She did say she wanted the plates on the straightners to be the wider ones If that make sense.
Also for the first time in 6yrs together we have a pretty good budget for each other this year of £200 well i have saved an extra£80 that she does not know about so she has £280 all help very welcome

  • Lucky Girl........and good for you for saving the extra 80.

Straightners - cant help there as never needed any - curling tongues I allways get the "cheaper" brands - plenty to choose from. The pair I use at the moment I have had for 4 years and used daily.
Perfume and Jewles would be a surprise.
Somebody else will be along later to update you.
  • straightners would go for ghd (they do wide plate ones )defo people say cheap ones just as good i cant see it - no way - curling tongs no idea - sorry for the extra pennys what about undies;)

I have tried several brands of straightener and I would recommend GHDs - they work wonders on my thick uncontrollable hair, and just seem to glide through, unlike others I have tried. They also make a set with wide plates.

They're not cheap but you can get them online for about £88 including delivery - eg here - http://www.thefunkygroup.co.uk/cat-3-subcat-9-product-123 - I am sure someone might be able to post a cheaper link! You can also buy them from some high street hairdressers.

I'd also recommend buying your other half some of the GHD iron oil to go with them, this is usually about £10 but if you're near a TJ Hughes, they are currently selling it for a fiver along with some other items from the GHD hair care range. It's essential to use a product to protect the hair before straightening otherwise it can damage.
  • hi,

As for the straighteners, GHD's are the best, also comes in the wider plates. these can be got off ebay at a reasonable pirce, although a reasonable price are still pretty steep at around £60-£120 (depends on where you get them), but would definatly say they are the best on the market. If you can't afford the wide plates dont worry, my OH got me mine for xmas last year, already had a normal pair, but hair had got so long thought i'd try the wide plates, but found them more difficult to use so went back to the normal size plates!
Check this forum all about them:

As for the curling tongs, at boots they are doing 1/3 off selected appliances, and have heard these are quite good

Also til the 5th Dec boots have triple points online, and there are plenty of other vouchers for boots floating around which usually work with the triple points or you could check http://www.ukshops.!!!!!!/vouchers.html

Anyway hope those links work ok for you and this info is helpful for you.

I've always found GHD's to be the best, I don't know if you use pigsback but there is a site called hg hair on there where you get 10 piggy points for every pound spent, they have great GHD sets, where you get the straighteners and other goodies in a posh bag :D
Theres also lots of other offers on pigsback if you put ghd in the search bar ;)

  • Boots had up to 50% off hair straigtners and curlers on Thursday, I think the offer is probably still on. I got some great Trevor Sorbie straighteners half price for £25! They are wide too, and pretty good. GHD's are by far the best in my opinion, but soooo expensive, and unless she wants poker straight hair every day, there are alternatives. I don't know about curlers, sorry

Another GHD fan here, may be expensive, but they work great! I had several cheaper ones first and they were just not good enough!
