transferring cc balance to loan with halifax

i have had a halifax credit card for many years and its up for renewal. halifax have just sent me a letter to say they are not going to give me a new one and i should just continue paying the balance off. i am quite happy about not getting a replacement.
it has a 10k balance on it and as i can only afford to pay £20 above the minimum each month its going to take a while to come down. is it possible to amend the outstanding balance to a loan with halifax, to take the interest down and obviously pay the same amount i am paying now??
has anyone had any dealings with halifax and paying off credit cards or fixing the interest???
