Survey Scam nuisance phone calls

I'm sick to death of these survey scam phone calls phoning frequently. I hadn't heard from them for a while - the current callers sound to me like they are from Hong Kong. (Previously they sounded Indian and the phone line sounded like it was from abroad).

However, today my teenager answered the phone and they kept saying to her "Can I speak to your Daddy", so she passed the phone to me and the caller just kept repeating without a gap between each sentence "Can I speak to your Daddy can I speak to your Daddy can I speak to your Daddy" (etc). I kept saying "I am an adult, you are speaking to an adult" (with an obviously adult voice). I told him I a private line and asked where he got my phone number - he just kept talking over and over me. Firstly he told me he was Dan, then he said he was Ben, then he said he was Roger. I told him to make up his mind who he was. Then he tried to tell me was Ben Dan Rodger.. I told him to remove my details from their database but he refused and he just spoke over me repeatedly wanting me to take part in his survey. I told him to go away, in the end shouting this, but he just carried on talking over me. I asked if he was deaf but it fell on deaf ears.

But, the concerning thing to me was 1) I couldn't find my whistle to pierce his hard of hearing with and more importantly (2) whilst this conversation took place he kept pressing buttons on his phone - always in two peeps (like he was pressing no. 1 followed by no. 2, for instance). I'm wondering what he was really doing? I also wondered if he was getting paid the longer he kept me on the phone as he just waffled on and on over the top of me.

Anyone any idea?

I normally put the phone down on them straight away but this time my teenager had answered the phone and him asking me to speak to my daddy over and over angered me.

Why aren't their regulations to stop these nuisance calls?

There are (are you reg'd with the TPS?).
However calls from abroad do not come under TPS jurisdiction.

it sounds like they were trying to get you to say the 'key' words for use in some sales pitch/agreement that they would cut/paste/edit together after the call.

Yes, of course. Useless for these type of calls though.

this is the forum where 'Ben' 'Dan' and 'Roger' tout for the daily business.

I was just guessing/suggesting something like the following may have been intended.

Was you able to press 1471 to get the number? perhaps you can get it blocked.

I know you can block calls when the caller withholds there number. Following that just vet the call via answer machine before picking up.
It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun
