Eon Boiler service (or absence of it)
Options
Hi, a friend had to move out of her home for over two weeks in Feb 2011 due to Eon failing to fix her boiler despite her having ten visits from their so called engineers.
I have read several similar posts here and would be interested if anyone has been successful in obtaining compensation from Eon(either directly or through the Small Claims procedure).
So far my friend has been offered a short extension of boiler cover without charge. This in no way compensates for the cost and inconvenience of the failure to fix the problem and a formal complaint to Eon resulted in the same answer.
What is particularly annoying is the fact that the first engineer to attend the boiler recommended a particular part be replaced. All of the subsequent engineers failed to fit this part until engineer ten did and restored the system.
Thanks.

I can't really imagine what you could claim for really....unless they promised to repair it within 9 visits :-)0

In answer to the reply to my initial post the type of claim is shown in the examples in the Financial Ombudsman's website.Unfortunately Eon seems to be a maintenance contract which is not backed by insurance.
If anyone is having problems with a boiler servicing contract they may find the F.O. website helpful- but the contract must be underwritten by an insurer.0
