!970s Baby chair renovation

Hi, I have renovated a wooden Mothercare babychair which was bought in the 70s but cannot find the bolts to attach the base to the top. The base can be used as a stool and the top is the chair unit. Bolted together they form the high chair.
What I am missing are two bolts or screws which have wings for finger tightening. I have been told the thread is Whitworth and the size is 1/4inch by 2inches.
Anybody got any idea where I them?
Many thanks.

metric bolts and wingnuts can be bought almost anywhere. BQ wickes etc...
unless you mean there is a captive nut inside the wood?

Believe BSW (Whitworth) is Imperial, but as ormus says, you can get this sort of bolt almost anywhere. It's IIRC the standard size used on camera tripods, for example.
B&Q or any decent local DIY shop will be able to sort you out with suitable bolts.
  • you will have to put where you live in your profile

and then maybe someone can direct you to a place near you .

    that sells the exact ones

Thanks for the responses. As suggested by Ormus there is a captive nut embedded in the chair frame which I need the bolts for.I want to keep to the original design for safety reasons.
