Help!!! Cable on outside of house??

Hey guys......

Quick question......

Coming down from the roof of my house (not tv ariel) I have a cable (looks armoured) that comes down the back of house along the garden wall, over into the back wall into the next house and up onto their roof. From there not sure where it goes.

Basically I want to get rid of it as I have not been asked if I am happy for cables to run over the house and along the wall and most importantly having an inch wide black cable along the wall looks crap!!

Called the Electricity provider.....not theirs.

Called BT.....verbally stated it is not theirs but they want £200+ to come out and confirm that.

Could it be when Rediffusion (tv company from pre 80's) ran their tv cable set up via this type of cable?

The council was no use.......

Any thoughts?

I would double check that its not electricity (follow the cable and see if it goes to your meter) as black SWA cable is common.

I have spoken to Western Power Distribution and they say all electricity in this area is underground.

Saying that Im still not brave/stupid enough to try cutting it!!!:rotfl:

You do not say how long you have lived in the house.

I would think it is from what was called Piped TV. Why not ask neighbours or see how far it extends?
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

    Been here for 3 years.....

Neighbours both sides are new and previous owners have moved away.

Probably going to get a local TV engineer around and pretend to ask about "changing my ariel"........ then throw the question in about if he/she knows what the cable is......

Sly and cunning but worth a try!!!
