BT Broadband scam

I have had BT Broadband Option 1 for three years and phoned them up 2 months ago stating I wanted to cancel as there were cheaper providers that provided more for the money.

I was then asked would I stay with them if they could find me a better deal. They put me on hold for a while and came back with a deal for approx 40% discount a month for the duration of 18 months. I agreed to this and they then said they would reduce my monthly payments to reflect this.

Imagine my suprise when I have received my online bill, stating that I am being charged the full amount (not the discounted rate) but they have amended my monthly payments which obvioulsy have not covered the monthly charge.

When I phoned them up, they have denied all knowledge of this deal, even though they couldn't account for lowering my monthly payments which do not cover my line rental and broadband charge!
I have insisted on them listening to the recorded call made as I remember being told that my initial call was being recorded.

Does anyone know what else I can do to resolve this?
