A Jag scrappy my father used to use did this, but only to run their own vehicles, they didn't sell it. Apparently the owner had a special machine that cleaned the fuel - he drove a Range Rover V8, his wife an XJR. :p Don't think there was (or is) anything illegal about it, it was just rather amusing when my father was collected from the station by a scrap merchant driving a Range Rover.

Why won't the aforementioned scrappy sell to you?!

And also, what on earth does 'ilegal of petrol' mean?

just looking for some advise. advice

I am aware that one of my neighbours purchases fuel from a local scrapyard which has been synphoned syphoned off from scrap cars.

THis is then stored in large plastic containers within a garage.

Is this allowed?? It annoys me as mI I'm (as well as the rest of the country) having to pay through the roof nose for petrol in my car.

Another reason it concerns me is it is obviously a huge fire risk. One small spark and that will be the row of garages away. It is being stored within local authority garages. I have informed my local authority.

Can anyone advise me if this is allowed or not?? Who do I report it too?? to Police / customs and excise??

    thanks in advance

    p.s. im in scotland

Corrected some of that gibberish for you.

So you have already reported it? What happened?

I await an update with baited breath.......

This should be 'bated breath'. You have been hoist with your own petard!

the op is in a huff because they aren't getting any cheap fuel.

some folk hate to see others thinking outside the box and making a few quid or saving a few quid.

occasionally i come across scrap metal, legitimatly,i put a little time and effort into organising it all and take it to the scrappy to weigh it in. then if you happen to tell the folk you got the scrap they were throwing away about it,they take the huff and would rather bin it that let you recycle it properly and make a few quid at the same time.

or some folk see you doing this and automatically assume you've stolen it.

some folk are just not happy seeing others doing a little better than themselves.

No. Either present or past tense is OK in this context.

No it didn't. It was your inability to distinguish between the use of bated and baited. Spellcheckers can't cater for that. Braincheckers are needed ;)
