Demonmailer problem

Hi

Hope someone can help or advise, I have over the last three weeks had emails returned to my AOL email box stating that these {and there are plenty} cannot for reasons be excepted by the companies that are recieving them. The problem I have is that I am not sending any of them to anyone. they are all tied up with either , offers for cheap goods from China/Pharmacy products ect. I do knorw that the companies that they are being sent to are from my address book but they are sent while my PC is switched off and not connected to the internet. I have done scans with Malwarebites and the results come back that I have no problems or viruses on my PC. I have AVG and {to my shame} Vista if this makes any difference. None of my information seems to got at and I have tried to block any spam emails through the AOL spaqm controls.
It annoys me that even though I am having no problems except having these "Phantom" emails returned I cannot find out how to stop them going out in the first place, Have any of the experts out there got any idea how this is happening and also how I can stop it??

Thanks for any replies

Have you tried changing your AOL password - the account has probably been compromised.

I have seen a number of compromised e-mail accounts sending mail,( verified by examining the headers), AOL, hotmail etc, your password was probably easily guessed, or you have Malware in your computer.
  • Thanks to both of you for your replies
It looks as if I am stuck with it then as unfortunatly this is a shared system and the main account holder has lost the information to get all or any of the passwords changed through AOL.

    Thanks Again
