Kinesiology - anyone used it? Thoughts, opinions...

Hi, I had been suffering from globus sensation (like a lump in throat/chest) which has now gone and left me with severe acid reflux. Initially my doctor thought this was was more likely to be tension related because I have been suffering from anxiety. However I am now more relaxed that I have been (am 11 weeks pregnant -delighted), have stepped donw from a role in work that I didn't want, seeing a CBT therapist and have been taking better care of myself all round but the constant burping and burning feeling in my chest and back is so exhausting and becoming unbearable. I am convinced that the little bit that I am still feeling in my throat is due to the acid reflux.
Someone recommended kinesiology as an amternative therapy and there is some info on various sites on the internet but am wondering if anyone has any thoughts or experience of it

i have used it and it helped me (even though i was highly sceptical, just desperate!). however, i don't know about different conditions and i can only speak for the one practitioner i used. i did 'disagree' with her about an ionic foot bath thing (salt in water with a current will change colour - it was nothing to do with toxins leaving the body - utter tosh!) but she was very open and honest, as was i, and it worked for me.
i honestly don't know if it would help beyond CBT and i found it expensive. if you have a supportive doctor, probably best talk it over with them. they may have other suggestions for reducing stress.
(and congrats on the pregnancy!):happyhear0 -
Wouldn't being pregnant (morning sickness) make this feeling more normal? Have you tried ginger tea or gaviscon on prescription? Is your bed propped up on bricks at the pillow end?I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0

I tried it and found it to be totally useless and I speak as someone who is very open-minded about alternative therapies.
I was very ill with various digestive complaints, anxiety, depression and general immune system problems. I was told to wear blue and drink no more than 1/2 pint of milk a day. It sounds barmy now but I was really desperate as no doctor could figure out what was wrong with me.
I'm not convinced that tapping on someone's arm is really a substitute for a proper diagnosis.
As for acid reflux, I found this. It might help: http://www.patient.co.uk/health/Pregnancy-and-Dyspepsia.htm. You could also ask your doctor about Zantac.4.30: conduct pigeon orchestra...0 -
Thanks for the replies. I have had this since the start of the year so while it may be aggravated by pregnancy it was there before. I had an upper scope done in Decemeber and was diagnosed with a hitus hernia. My doc had me on tablets omeprazolne (spelling!) from then but 2 be honest I found these didn't help at all and I have now gone off them due to being pregnant. Perhaps I should go back to hime and ask for something else.0

FWIW - there's lots of different complementary therapies and I find this time of year there are starting to be quite a few 'fayres' around where you will be able to talk to different therapists, and may be able to have a taster session to try some of them out.
That's how I found Bowen Therapy that worked for me & now I've qualified as a practitioner and do these type of fayres.
Hoping you find something that works for you0
