Redundancy payment

Hi I want to know if i have a case regarding my redundancy pay. The company i worked for is closing down in August this year, they told me my job was being made redundant in august, but with my mam being serously ill i could have vol redundancy and finish in may. But just after recieving my letter to say when i would finish they asked me to stay an extra week, which i said yes to. A cfouple of wks later i recieved a letter to say i had a job that would benifit me and be able to spend more time with my mam before the worst happens. I told my boss this and said i want to leave on the 1st April to which she said you will not get your redundnacy as you are leaving and we can't let you go. Can they do this even though it was her idea that i put in for vol redundancy. Please help me if you can.

Was it 1 April that you told your boss you had another job offer or was it 1 April that you left?

If you said to them you want to leave on 1st April, you have resigned, why didnt you wait until they paid you off in May.
