I must be having THE most bad day ever.
parked car in asda, (cram packed) and parked as far away from doors as possible, on the way in they have silly speed humps, wich have deteriorated that much when you go over them you dont feel it, but the parts that go under the cars are high facing up and one caught my flexi pipe tearing it, so now my cat converter is hanging down on the subframe coz the tension has been relieved in the flexi.
to add to that some simple idiot has damaged my car. asda are not playing ball and not allowing any cctv footage to be seen and are not taking responsabilty of the damage to the flexi, saying YOU DROVE TO FAST OVER THEM OR MY CAR IS LOWERED, but admit are in a state of disrepair and are having NEW ones fitted (they cant really deny that as its posted in the local rag about the state of them and need new ones to tackle boy racers) the manager was adament that there isnt nothing he can do about it, and that i would have to talk to my insurers about the damage to the panel and write a complaint to asda about the exhaust.
the damage isnt big, a dent and a scratch i have knocked the dent out now but the paint is cracked so im gunna put some of the missus clear nail hardner on the area to prevent the moisture getting to the panel untill i can get some paint mixed up and filler to skim the area and paint it over.
my car is a chrysler neon, its the beutifull red over gold metalic colour and looking at the colour charts no one mixes it ready as one colour so i thinks its a 2 stage base coat, stage 1 gold then stage 2 red (both metalic) if thats the case its not as simple as sand down the area blend it in and laquer it over, as the panel will look odd.
am i right in thinking that this should be treated as if i was to paint it a candy colour, and paint the whole side in many stages,
1. primer (wich is black) (2 layers) 50/50 over lap spray pattern
2. gold metalic (2 layers) as above
3. wet coat transparent. (2 layers) wider spray nozel and more mix of dry'er air and spray the side of the car in one stroke as supposed to side to side and shoter strokes to make an even coat (wich is important in candy colour paints as uneven hight in paint can make the polarisation of the paint off key)
4. red metalic (2 layers) 50/50 over lap pattern
5. laquer (2 layers) 50/50 overlap pattern
if above is the case, i'm going to kick butt with asda.

Carpark packed, how many others had an issue with the speed bump?0 -
have PM'd you cass. the car park in question has degraded speed humps. not your avergage single hump, but 2 kirb sized humps a foot apart from each other, they are rather nasty peices of work and now degraded where they have worn from weight of cars vans and busses the centre of the bumps have risen from the ground the and are catching people bumpers, sumps subframes or exhuast clamps, this is one of the reasons why asda are redoing them altogether rather than patching them up as they are a poor design to start with. everyones suspension setup is different per vehicle make model, casseu's car has a soft ride, thus softer suspension no matter what speed he goes over it he will catch something underneath on it. it isnt lowered.0

I would suggect that worn suspension pribably caused the car to hit the bump to some extent.
I don't think anybody on here would even consider repairing body damage on a Neon. They have little resale value and are firmly in the drive till something expensive goes catagory of motoring.
I very much doubt you will get any financial help from Asda, no harm in trying, but they are part of Walmart and therefore legally they are likely to be watertight towards such claims, otherwise they would have changed them straight away.0 -
Go back and take some pics of the damaged humps as proof in case asda get a man in to mend them. Good luck, if its any concellation my electric ariel has stuck halfway today and is going neither up nor down. On an L reg I don't really care, not enough to spend money on a new ariel.0
