http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/3544485/Thieves-targeting-vans-on-council-estate-are-confronted-by-four-SAS-men-on-a-stakeout.html
TEENAGE thieves targeting vans parked on a council estate forced open the doors of one - and were confronted by four SAS men on a stakeout.
Two of the Who Dares Wins heroes stayed put while the other two chased the panic-stricken tearaways and gave them "a bit of a slap".
The SAS surveillanced team was on a night-time counter-terrorism training exercise in Manchester.
A source said: "The lads each had a machine gun and a side pistol with live ammunition to make it realistic. They saw these scrotes coming for some time.
"They were trying their luck on every van in the estate, looking for tools they could pinch.
"One of the team was resting, one on standby, one log-keeping and monitoring the radio, and the fourth was watching the practice target through the scope of a sniper rifle.
"They didn't want to move for fear of ruining the exercise and hoped the gang would pass them by.
"The lads decided they would teach them a lesson if they did get into their van, which is exactly what happened.
"To this day, those idiots probably still don't have any idea who they were messing with - but it hopefully made them think twice about doing that to anyone else again."

With the team's cover blown, the exercise was cancelled. But no official report was made to police to prevent members having to give court evidence.
The incident was confirmed by senior defence forces. But The Sun has been asked not to reveal specific details

Queue court case by a couple of scallies against said SAS officer for assault.
I have no sympathy for the criminals but they should have been apprehended, and charged as such, rather than being beaten by a member of the armed forces.0 -

Agree with you there.
It's hard to take the moral highground if you can't see it from where you are.0 -
I disagree. The sas should have used their ammo to shoot these villans dead. And then departed.
Years and years of grief to innocent law abiding people and the police would have been saved and the prisons would end up less burdoned.0 -
.....and we would live in a society where members of the public were gunned down in the street by the military without fair trial. Somehow don't think i'd feel much safer.
May i reccomend a move to Syria where your dream is a reality.0 -
Stories like this are great...... "We got our information from someone we can't name and they'll deny all knowledge if anyone asks", no Police report was filed and nobody else know's anything about it.
All that's missing from the report is "this all occurred 24 days ago".
I could make up stories like that ALL day long and nobody would believe me, but slap it in The Sun and what do we have?“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

the small beating by the sas man was the best course of action in my opinion. criminials these days dont care about getting caught and going to court, the chances are they will get a !!!!!! fine and get let out again. getting a small slap by a sas man will scar you for life, god knows what he did to him lol
good on the sas. From England - Live in Edinburgh and work as a bus driver0 -
!!!!!! is a "surveillanced" team? Surveillance team maybe?
A bone article from a bone paper for boneheads.
The lads also did not each have a machine gun as a machine gun is a support weapon not an individual weapon, maybe they mean a submachine gun/automatic carbine. Anyone who served in the SAS or any Combat or Combat Support arm would know the difference. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

And probably not coincidental that it appeared at the same time as the recruitment crisis scare stories for the SAS/SBS either0
