Have you checked the level since the service?. Its possible it was not filled correctly by the garage. Check the oil on a level road and after the engine has been off for over 10 minutes.

All sorted thanks the oil filter was not fitted I'n right.
Is this just one of those things or do I need to complain to the garage ?
They charged me £99 and only changed the oil and oil filter .

Just dont go back there in the future... TBH they'll probably deny all knowledge of it being their fault anyway.

£99 for Oil & Filter...... Rather on the expensive side that.

why? have you seen the price on oils per gallon? can easily pay £30,00 for a gollon of oil. then the filter about £5.00 then the garage has to remove the sump guard ok 5 mins if that, remove plug and drain the oil wich is a wating game and occupying a ramp that could otherwise have another car on it.

    Yup.....

I paid £22 for genuine GM/Vauxhall oil, around £5 for a genuine GM/Vauxhall oil filter and £15 for a garage to do the work (I don't have a flat driveway).

Was that a standard oil Strider?

Or the one for the CDTi?

One of the beauties of the earlier Vauxhalls like the Cavalier and earlier Astras was the fact that filters were cheap and you could use a decent semi-synthetic to save money.

May explain why my mate is selling his Honda Odyysey and going back to his Cavalier 1.8, and we all thought he was mad to loan it to a relative, but now he just needs to give it a service and reinsure/tax it and off he goes, simplicity personified to look after that car.

The semi-synth 5w40 for the petrol engines, comes in a 5 ltr can too, which is great when you consider most cars need more than 4 ltr's of oil and the branded oils come in 4 ltr cans.

GM oil is said to be extremely good.
