Beeswax on stair

Looking for advice on my stair which has been stained with quite a dark satin wood stain.
Now looking rather dull and in need of something to give it a bit of a lift.
I do not want to coat again with the wood stain as this would darken it down, which I don't want.
Not keen to use clear varnish either.
I would like to try some of the waxes, maybe beeswax or something.
Any idea how this would do on stair that has been stained.
Appreciate any advice.
Thank you.

Don't put beeswax on the stairs because anyone walking out the bathroom with wet hands will leave watermarks on the handrail. You could use either Danish oil or Blackfriars Traditional wood stain (clear satin or matt finish) but you must make sure there are no traces of grease before you oil.........
Ps:Blackfriars is like a varnish but it doesn't build up in corners like a Polyurethane varnish does and also it doesn't leave brush marks.0 -
Well it depends on whether you want a gloss shine or not...
