Is quote for plastering a fair price?

Hi guys,

Just had a quote to skim my thirties semi and wanted to check it sounds fair.

Work involves:

Skimming 17 by 12 foot bedroom plus skimming ceiling
Skimming 15 by 12 foot bedroom plus skimming over artex
Skimming 12 by 12 foot bedroom plus skimming ceiling and drylining small wall by window

Skimming small toilet (5 by 3 foot) plus ceiling
Skimming large and spacious hall, landing and stairs (plus dry lining / plasterboarding a large wall and skimming ceiling).

Plasterer reckons it's 10 days work and has quoted £1,600. I think it's fair but saw people on here saying £200 per room!

Many thanks,

Kirsty

But you are not going to get the walls and ceiling in a 17 x 12 room skimmed for £200. To get walls and a ceiling done in a day, its normally for a plasterer and a labourer. So allow £250 - £300 per room. Plus you have got 2 days on your hall, stairs and landing.

If he is saying 10 labour days, then look at say £130 per day plus materials. So £1600 seems fair.

But don't get dragged into price wars. Ask to see some of his work - if he is decent he will be happy to arrange this.

I think it sounds a good price, we got prices ranging from £4200-£11000 for our four bed detached in London.

Just had my daughters room done, 10x8 I would say - 240 pounds. He wasn't the cheapest but came highly recommended, that meant more to me
