Not only that, in Ross's Merc, the max torque will typically be around 4000RPM or higher whereas on most lorries its under 1000RPM.

Just curious, ever had the Mondy at 4000 revs in 6th? Dont do nothing for the fuel economy tho.

One of the petrol tankers broke down on Sunday, was speaking to the driver while he was waiting to get towed away, didn't know that they had things that big! Wish I could have stayed to see someone that big being towed!
What is pi? Where did it come from?

not really they are all governed to 55 mph.

Seem to be plenty of HGV's travelling up and down our motorways at 70 mph at night. ;)

The buses we use at work are Dennis Enviro 400's

They use a 5 litre 6 cylinder lump

They still only do about 8 mile to the gallon though (according to the engineers)

In twelve hours of use in London, when they return to the depot for refuelling, they usually on average take onboard 200+ litres of diesel
If Adam and Eve were created first
.Does that mean we are all inbred

Out of Interest which Trucks are making peak Torque at under 1000rpm?

V8 engined Mercedes Actros (virtually all artics) is just over 1000RPM for peak torque.

With respect they're still hitting Peak at over 1000rpm... Around 1100IRC and forget where it drops off....

You mentioned earlier in the thread that most trucks make it under the 1000rpm mark... I was interested to know what trucks or engine hit peak at under.
