Trying to troubleshoot a sky magic eye?

Hi folks,
I have had a sky magic eye which has been going for years without problems. I have used 2 of the white cables joined by a splitter (forget the length of each cable but I suppose its 15m each) to bring sky and remote control function from one room to the other.
I have had probs recently where the red light on magic eye would go out, so figured it was a new magic eye I needed but same problem. So Now I am troubleshooting the cable connections but not sure if thats the prob I'm beginning to think its the rif outlet 2 on the box.
I have 2 questions if anyone would would be good enough to give me some advice.
1 If I connect the magic eye directly to the rif 2 on box and the red light on eye stays on for a few days then is it ok to assume that the rif on box is ok
2 If above happens then I think its probably a problem with the white cables so I will have to buy some new cable. Will the standard brown cable do as I will probably need maybe 40 metres?
thansk

1-Yes,by doing that you can see if power is going to the eye.
2-Colour of the cable makes no odds,the different cables can come in black,white or brown.You need an un-interupted run of a CT-100 or equivelent type,I believe the CT-100 has been superseded by WF-100.
When you say you have a splitter,how many TV's are you feeding off the RF2?..If it's more than one,then you need to fit a booster box as the 9v power to the eye is being bled off going to the different tv's.
I use these ones;

You may also find that if it's the type of magic eye that the box bit plug's directly into the TV,then the contacts inside the box may be damaged,that's why I prefer the one's below,as it's a short lead that plugs into the TV.

As for the cable;

Hi again,
Thanks for reply, its only one tv that is being fed off the rif output 2. What I mean by a splitter is I have 2 lengths of white cable (as one length wasn't long enough) and the 2 cables join together in the attic into a female type connector.
I have redone the cable at the rif output 2 again i.e so far so good the magic eye is working fine in other room for at least a couple of hours, but it has done this before then just goes off. As said before I have bought another magic eye but still has same problem with red light going off.
Another question if that is ok- the middle copper wire in the cable I take it that carries the sky signal, is it the outside little flimsy copper wires that carry the power for the magic eye? or if not what do these little flimsy wires do? I do make sure that they don't touch the main central copper wire in cable.
thanks again

Similar problem here folks which is bugging me since we hardly watch telly in the bedroom but when we do .. aargh ....
I borrowed a mate's TV Link and tried plugging that in to the RF socket directly (mine's got the screw in connector so I couldn't really try that) and it didn't work ....
Ours works intermittently for no real reason when it wants to.
I think there must be an issue inside the box which is a bit of a headache as it would be much easier if it was a cabling issue ...0
