Mildew spots on white painted bathroom walls

Hi, I have been getting lots of small black dots that seem to be getting bigger on the bathroom walls up near where it meets the ceiling. the bathroom window is open 24/7 so I cannot ventilate any more than I am now. I don't think the paint is proper bathroom paint to be honest, it looks like normal bog standard emulsion. My question is, what is the best way to remove it and try to stop it coming back until I can decorate the room with proper anti fungal bathroom paint? It is a rented house so don't want to damage anything and at the same time ideally don't want to remove too much paint in the process in case I can't redecorate fast.

You have condensation leading to mould. The problem is ventilation or lack thereof. The bathroom should have an extractor fan fitted but the bathroom may have been refitted before that became a regulatory requirement.

There is no such thing as "proper" bathroom paint. The product is the result of marketing hype. Bod standard emulsion will be fine as long as the room is properly ventilated.

Thanks keystone, I know an extractor would be good but not really something I want to pay out for being a rented house. Any ideas on how to shift it?

Our old victorian house had damp in the bathroom, normally in the corners of the walls and a few spots on the ceiling (our window used to be open too) so I used to wipe the wall/ceiling over with neat bleach and that used to sort it out for quite some time.

If you don't like the smell of bleach, try hydrogen peroxide.
