Single lever or double leaver tap?

Hi
We have had a double leaver tap fitted on our kitchen sink in the past, given us a few problems, we are looking at a single lever tap as an alternative.
We have had an issue what I believe is some sort of pressure problem, when the hot water tap is opened on the bathroom or utility area it causes a horrible noise to happen at the kitchen tap and it means someone has to go to that tap and move the lever about for the noise to appear.
The problem is intermittent, sometimes you can open the warm water tap and it will be fine but sometimes it will make this horrible noise. Initally it seems liked there could be something stuck in the pipework but I think now its the tap and thinking replacing the tap may solve our problem.
Any good/bad points on a single lever tap? We prefer the single lever taps because you have the ability to mix water as well as saving a bit of time.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
