Asda LCD television problems

we bought a Dual 26" lcd television for arounf £500 from Asda just over a year ago and it has developed a fault, where the picture wraps off the right hand side of the screen and reappears on the left, making it unwatchable.
I rung Asda, they said "out of guarantee, nothing we can do".
Phoned a local repair shop and they reckon upwards of £200 for the replacement of the main board.
Phoned Asda again, as it seemed a bit steep for a tv to be dud after 14 months and got "out of guarantee, nothing we can do" again.
Are they right? Am I stuck with forking out for repairs on a newish tv?

Nope, a TV should last more than 14 months so once again ASDA are talking out their !!!! (sorry but their cs is dreadful!) Either go to your local store or call them back saying you know your rights bla bla bla and they should refund/replace. You may have to take a print out stating the Sale Of Goods Act, can't find the bit you need but I'll keep looking, its there somewhere! http://www.businesslink.gov.uk/bdotg/action/layer?r.s=sl&topicId=1074027367:j :j0
