does anyone know what i need to use to stain wood black?
i want to stain my fireplace mantel so that it matches the other wooden items in the room which are black-brown (hope the ikea link works to give an example:http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/90171709 ).
how do i prep the fireplace mantel? i presume sand it down.
what stain with give me a brown-black?

The item in your example isn't a stain its a matt black paint, sprayed on in the factory.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

i have nothing to do with the author etc .,.,,just that it is very comprhensive .EVERYTHING ABOUT STAINING AND FINISHING WOOD IS COVERED IN THIS DVD
