I assume you mean largest chainwheel/largest sprocket or smallest chainwheel/smallest sprocket? This makes the chain twist, as it's using the left-most chainwheel/right-most sprocket (or vice versa).1. don't think about progressing up and down the gears using all of them and avoid the extreme ones e.g largest chainwheel/smallest sprocket as they are unkind to the chain.
Using the largest chainwheel/smallest sprocket is just 'top gear' and is how it's meant to be used.0
