No debt added, all thanks to this site. Have got to say though that buying throughout the year means I've probably got too much, so not only is xmas paid for so are most of dd's birthdays.0

I have a little cleaning job I do on a saturday morning, It brings me in £20 per week and I save this religiously for Christmas (and DS1 and DD2 and DD3's birthdays in Dec and Jan). What is even better this year, is I've had a bonus from work of £200 worth of Asda vouchers. Brilliant, no debt this Christmas!
Merry Christmas to all of you

I saved up for Park vouchers and have food covered by savings stamps at Somerfield
Only got a couple of prezzies to get now - most were bought in the Jan sales. Had to cut back a bit due to prezzies being stolen but we will manage without going into debt. I had wanted to pay off all of my debts by Christmas but now I think I will need to carry a few hundred over to next year - all on interest free so not too bothered.

Thanks to this Board I will not have any extra debt this Christmas :j . Even last year I ended up buying some presents from a catalogue and ended up paying for them for months! This year I am using money from Quidco (over £200) plus shop and scan vouchers (£50 worth) plus Nectar card vouchers and my £2 savings (over £50). I have been buying things throught the year as I saw them, bought lots from ebay and at work last week bought 5 presents from a woman who was running a tombola to raise funds for Raleigh International - each ticket cost £1 and they were good prizes like hard back books and cds. Sorted! Happy Christmas all.Total debt May 2005 £83,232

I won't be adding to my debt at all this year, but I will be putting it on a credit card so I can get the cashback and then clearing it in January!
First time in 3 years I will have no debts come January...0 -
We also won't be spending on the cc. ( cut them up last week ). After discussing our finances last week this is a no go. I have been buying small christmas presents for the family and children over the last 8 weeks and have had some great offers. The children have only a few things this year but we'd rather this than come January 1st can't pay our direct debits. This year has been a huge wake up call for us and reading through a lot of posts on here there are a lot of others in the same boat.
Myself and husband said that where altogether and happy and it's only for one day. We'll make sure it's a grand one without have the extra expense.
Happy christmas to you all:A Tomorrow's just another day - keep smiling0 -
I was doing well but he's managed to hammer his M&S card I think by £200 but will have to wait till the bill comes in. I cut it up as soon as I could.Barclaycard 3800
Nothing to do but hibernate till spring

We are not debt free, but wil not be adding to our debt at christmas. DH is getting some books and coffee vouchers paid for in total from my Lightspeed and pigsback vouchers. I got all my christmas cards in the Jan sales, ditto wrapping paper(got enough to wrap at least a house, a double decker bus and a horse!!!!) had made my christmas cake ages ago. Have 2 almost full Tesco stamp cards at least one of these will be used for the sales. Not bothering with a tree(we are not miserable HONEST) but have nice lights. Depending how I feel we are thinking of offering to help at a homeless shelter on Christmas day. We are going in to a local animal shelter on Boxing day(have done this for years) to assist with walking, feeding and general "stuff" just hope I am well enough to go. The only thing I spend money on is COSTO mince pies-but thats a Sep-Dec thing not just Christmas(if you taste them you will KNOW). I can understand how and why people with famalies and with young children in particular are under such pressure to buy "stuff"-people seem really shocked when I tell them we are not having a tree etc.BUT......we DO have a nice time, its just that its very specific to us.Blind as you run...aware you were staring at the sun.
And when no hope was left inside on that starry starry night.
