Recommendation for best cat food for 19 yrs old kitty

I'm trying to source the most suitable food for my pensioner.

She has been on a wet food diet all of her life, but I'm now considering diet options for a cat of her age.

I have bought a small bag of purina pro plan renal care, however, at this stage I want to consider all options.

I also need to know where I can buy a measuring scoop so I can give her the correct amount of food.

I would chat to your vet, as you dont want to mess with her system now. At 19 is doing well and you dont want to be changing anything which upsets her tummy.

You also have to consider the teeth as you have used wet up until now and her teeth probably woudlnt handle crunching. I would imagine the purest best food you can get would be best but would be wary of doing anything drastic.

Most pet shops give them away for free, i know pets at home to, and both my local pet shops.

I was going to ask about her teeth too, my old lady of 21 has very few teeth left now and I figure that she's got to 21 and I just give her whatever she wants now.. a little bit of what she fancies it can't do her any harm now... why change the habits of a lifetime..

I know what you mean. I give my old lady pretty much anything she wants. I was just looking for general everyday food.

Maybe your right, I'll probably just stick to her old ways

For older cats I would recommend food that caters to older animals. I have found that when I had older cats Royal Canin’s Mature Brand worked for my cat’s old tummy and teeth. (21 years old ! What a girl!)

I mixed that with some senior wet food from time to time for a special treat!

This is excellent advice - there are plenty of good quality wet foods - if that's what your cat is used to - in the list and a very extensive cost/nutritional analysis of each food. I changed my cats' food based on what I read here.
