Does Paying Off A Charge Card With A New Credit Card Count As A 0% Purchase???

Hey Everyone,
This is my first post to the website so looking forward to some feedback.
I use a AMEX Charge Card for most major purchases as the reward points mount up nicely for flight upgrades etc. I have also recently applied for a new 0% interest for 12 months credit card.
My question is if I make a purchase on my AMEX card to collect a nice sum of points, can I then use my Credit Card to clear this and have it register as a "purchase" therefore allowing 12 months interest free to pay it off????
Any comments would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks

in general you can't use a CC to pay off a CC unless you are allowed to do a balance transfer;0

Why not ask Amex if they accept payment by credit card? If they say yes, then ask them how they'll process the payment, ie what MCC they'll use to classify the transaction (purchase or cash transaction).
How many digits does an Amex charge card have?...the standard 16 (used by most credit cards) or some other number?0 -

The Charge Card has 15 digits written in a 4 - 6 - 5 layout. Its the only card i've ever seen with that layout not sure if that has a bearing on anything?!!0 -
This was certainly not possible when I had an Amex chargecard (plat).
Economically, I just don't think the margin is there. Whilst Amex usually charges a little more by way of merchant fees, I don't think this would cover the fee they would have to pay if they accepted Visa/Mastercard.0 -
Only Maestro/Delta/solo/Electron Debit cards are permissible.Reformed Saver!0

Hey Everyone,
Thanks for the quick replies, having taken the earlier advice to call AMEX, the later posts are spot on and AMEX do not accept a credit card payment for their charge cards.
Thanks for all the quick and accurate replies, I guess I will just have to miss out on the reward points for this one!!0
