I wouldn't ever cut my hair myself, can't cut in a straight line to save myself! But I don't get it trimmed very often right now as I'm trying to grow it. So once every 3 months or so at this point.
I've always coloured my hair at home, and it's been every colour going! I did get it done in a salon once and was £90
Didn't even stay in that long, I had to redo the front as it faded so badly.carpe diem

For a long time I resisted spending the money at the hairdresser but once you find a really good one, it makes sense because you feel good all the time. I feel carppy if my hair is rough and the girl now does it with three different shades and it looks fabulous, glossy and healthy - I would never be able to get that result at home. PLUS, you keep up with new ideas rather than getting stuck in a rut with the style. But it really is worth chopping and changing hairdressers until you find one that makes you feel great, rather than just ok.
If you can afford it, go for the pampering and cut down on something else.0 -
Salons do charge rediculous prices but thats how they afford to trade and pay wages.
Why not go to a wholesalers and buy the colour the salon use on your hair.
In some hair and beauty suppliers, they also sell to the public.
So you could get the same product the salon uses for around 70% cheaper.
In the wholesalers, trade obviously do get a bigger discount but you will still pay alot less than you would in the salon.
Hair colours can range from £7 to £20 depending on the wholesalers and the brand.
You can get most hair colour brands salons use and they do not sell high street brands. But professional brands at wholesale prices work out the same price as high street brands in your favourite shop!
You can even buy the same shampoos, conditioners and all other products the salon uses to make your feel fabulous, you know that feeling when you have just had your hair done!!
The only time I recommend going to a salon, is to have any treatment involving bleach or peroxide xxNaomi Clarke0 -
Are you just coloring all of your hair with one color tone? I mean without any highlight in some parts of your cut? If you do so then may be you can try to do it yourself. You only need to pay for the hair color and you can ask your friend to do it for you. For hair cut I think you still need to go to the hairdresser. And for hair blow, I think you can also do it.0
