Hello everyone, I hope you can help me..
I have three small standing orders that go into my son's bank account every fortnight when I get paid (just some money I owe him, catalogue bill, and 10 that I ask him to put away for me for christmas), it comes to 25 every fortnight and they are set up as three seperate standing orders.
I didnt have enough money in my account some time in January and Halifax charged me £15 for each unpaid amount, £45 in total
I admit that I should have had enough funds in my account, I went in to the branch the next day (when I realised) and put money into the account to cover the amounts.
I wrote them a letter asking if they would refund two of the unpaid amounts because if I had just set up the standing orders as one transaction then they would have only charged one fee, but they have replied to me saying that they wont refund the charges because there has not been an error on their part and that the terms and conditions of the account are legally binding
Should I just leave it or write back to them - I don't know what to say if I write back?
Many thanks
Linda

I would suggest you combine the 3 standing orders you have to just one that covers the amount you wish to pay your son, then if you ever don't have enough cleared funds in the future to honour the transaction, you will only get 1/3 the fee you recently got

If your account balance is running close enough to zero that the £45 transactions are likely to be refused I would also consider cancelling the standing order and make a direct FastPay transaction to your son in future. At least then you will know if you have the money when it is due to go.0
