Very interesting, but possibly not in the way that the Post Office intended. Were they hoping to add fuel to a 35 year-old unresolved conflict?

Presumably, the use of the Turkish Cypriot flag rather than the national flag of Cyprus - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_Cyprus.Sorry if I'm being thick, I have no idea what you mean?0 -

What's strange is that the flag of the Republic of Cyprus appeared on the original version of the press release. The Norwegian site that MrsE linked to has an amended version with the TRNC flag instead; best I can see that is the only change that's been made to the document.
Can't imagine that the Post Office would be best chuffed that someone has doctored their document in such a way.

The PO's own website displays no flags at all in its version of the report, merely country names, resort area and the price data - http://www2.postoffice.co.uk/sites/default/files/Holiday_Costs_Barometer_2011.pdfWhat's strange is that the flag of the Republic of Cyprus appeared on the original version of the press release. The PO's website has two versions: one from Jan 2011 and one from April. One has flags, one doesn't. The one with has been amended and the flag changed before it was reposted on the Norwegian site that MrsE linked to.
The January one contained flags and it is the one that's been changed.

very interesting, having been to many places on these lists, you can tell they went to the key holiday resort where tourists are charged premiums. no surprise for australia went sept09 to relive my working visa years before and a schooner (2/3 pint) of beer in sydney was £3+
i always try and avoid the main tourist trappings for UK package holiday makers and you can save a fortune.
like bulgaria if you stay away form sunny beach, and stick to inland towns or resorts off the thomson/thomas cook family.
you can get a 3 course meal with 3 or 4 beers for less than £12 a couple.
putting suncream on the list is interesting also, as most people will buy at home were they can trust the quality. we all know suncream at a beach resort is a complete ripoff0 -
As far as I can see, the price killer for Egypt is an evening meal with wine.
A bottle of wine is expensive in restaurants there and a decent one is extortionate:eek::eek::eek:0
