  • Hello everybody and hugs to all those who need one and a "well done" to the weight loss! Well didn't post yesterday as it was a bit of a  day. Went to B&Q to get the worktop for the other house's kitchen as the kitchen fitter was staring today. Had planned to merely get "extra" for the new bits and just have the old, perfectly good, work top re-used. Problem. B&Q have now changed the thickness of the work top for our 1" one is now too "thin"....so we had to get 3 lengths of brand new work top cut instead of 2....so we compromised and didn't go for the £75 a 3 m length one but the £50. Thus saving us £75 - clever eh? Yeah, until we put it in the car. It was a "tight fit" so tight in fact that it slipped and smashed the car windscreen.... which has cost us £65 to have replaced today with the lovely Autoglass people....still I guess it means we saved £10 :rotfl: Then once we'd got them to the house OH had to take off all the tiles we're having replaced.... Did get some reduced Thyme from B&Q though, nothing a good water won't fix TBQH....

The evening was better. Went to see the local band and it was very good - 3 supports (missed first one as we were running late due to above) but all in all good evening. Drinks though  OH ordered a pint of lager (he forgot it was Good Friday and no alcohol) and I had a pint of blackcurrant and lemonade - £5.40!! We switched on the next drink to halves of B&L and that was £3.80...where do they get their prices from. Still it was a cheap night really for what we saw and it chucked it down whilst we were inside as well - good for the garden.

So OH is working up at the kitchen today, I've been to acupuncture and I've just planted my sweet peas using seed tags I've made from a plastic milk bottle - can I have my own TV series now? :rotfl:

Dinner tonight is probably burger and chips infront of the telly with Dr Who...not personally obviously, that TARDIS won't fit in my hall....

Finally, late in the day BUT Happy St George's Day!!!
But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green :D

    Afternoon all,

Happy birthday Stefjb....where are you hiding these days?

Less windy here to-day but not as warm either, still the sun is shining so the clothes will dry on line.

We had breakfast out this morning (OH's treat for us both) and it was lovely, haven't felt hungry since so will be having an 'antipasto' type of dinner....salami, ham, pickles of various kinds, lettuce, hardboiled egg and bread....we often do this when we have breakfast out and it feels very Italian.

Everything in the garden needs water these days....have done the 6 window boxes at front....will do the greenhouse and back garden in a bit , need to pick some rhubarb to go in the freezer too as I waited too long last year and had very little over winter...we love it so missed it greatly. Do need to use the red currants from the freezer as won't feel it until there is another crop in....might use some in a cake to-morrow....I make a sponge mix and just throw in chopped rhubarb or defrosted fruit....turns out well and usually manage to freeze some for days when there is nothing in the tin. Think that I will make some Twinks too as they are much appreciated when I do, sometimes dip them in melted chocolate to vary a bit.

Cleaned the front windows to-day....my mother would turn in her grave at the state of them for Easter, dogs sit on window cill and drool at me sometimes so they were really bad.

Sorry that you are having carp weather JackieG, usually our weather is much the same as yours, can't say Im sorry to miss out this time.

JackieO and DD....congratulations on weight loss, need to do something definite myself....bought the GI book but am finding some of the low fat this and non-fat that a bit of a faff so am just concentrating on trying to cut down on the bread.....can I still eat cake??

Have a lovely Easter all, stay safe and well

Afternoon everyone.Have been enjoying the sun in the garden all day and have not done a thing:eek:.Well apart from go to Lidls a while ago and well let me explain...........................Went in to get some salad bits to last over the next few days as dinner will be salad and something due to weather forcast. As we were going round we saw hords and I mean hords of fresh meat and dairy products with the 30% stickers on them and picked lots up to pop in freezer, didnt think anything of it as shops closed tomorrow. When we got to the tills the checkout lad rang the bell to queery the number of 30% off stickers that were going through with dates on the food past tomorrows dates. Then the manager asked if we could go into the office with him :eek::eek:.Was furious as knew had done nothing wrong but still went in and was asked if I minded emptying my bag to see if I had a roll of their 30% stickers as they hadnt put them on.I did so as again knew I had done nothing wrong and surprise surprise no stickers to be found.I was furious and told them basically to stick their poxy shopping I have never felt so insulted or embarressed in my life. Before I left they asked for my address so they could keep it on file , muttered it to them and said I would be complaining to head office.Got home and burst into tears I was so angry and humilliated.Half an hour ago and with the boys still threatening to go and cause trouble in the store which I would not allow them to do I had a knock on the door and opened it to find the manager of Lidls standing there with a trolley filled to the brim with all sorts of goodies and everyday things as well as every piece of the stuff I had picked up with 30% stickers on.They had looked back over the cctv and saw a bunch of teenagers pick up a roll of stickers and basically stick them on everything they could.Had a few bottles of wine thrown in as well.He was so apologetic and couldnt say sorry enough .Now not sure how I feel

I must be mad.... we did another hour outside in the front garden today.

Downside, is I collapsed this afternoon, so am feeling a bit sorry for myself tonight, not to say a little scared, as it was so sudden.:(

Uolypool I don't know how I'd feel, given your experience.... I should damn well think he would be apologetic, after humiliating you like that! At the end of the day though, you knew all along that you were blameless, so I think you should go ahead and enjoy the stuff they've brought, and try and put the nasty experience behind you.

    Afternoon All

It was raining quite a lot overnight and this morning but has now cheered up. One lot of washing on the line and the other lot on the airer inside, didn't want to risk 2 loads getting soaked. Usual OS stuff going on, just not much ironing - must do it tomorrow.

Have had a busy week, managed to read but not post, I have managed to cycle to work 3 days out of the 4 I was in and went swimming on the way home twice (quite tired by the time I got in!), swimming again this morning and then a trip to Glasgow. DD couldn't get one of the earrings out of her ear to put a bar in so we had to go back to the piercing place. Unfortunately they didn't have one the right size so will have to go back next week. Still, I did manage to nip into Cath Kidston and buy a bag (naughty but nice)!

Uolypool, I wouldn't know what to do either, although he has apologised and brought you lots of goodies his people skills are severly lacking, maybe that would be worth a phone call to head office.
Well done JackieO and DD for the weight loss and bad luck to Rage with the worktop, what a day you had.
Belated birthday wishes to those celebrating this week and welcome to the newbies.

Chilling out here tonight, take care all. XX

ETA - Lamewolf, hope you are ok, take care of yourself.

    Evening all

    - oh dear not a great experience, but at least they turned up with the stuff and extra

I've doen all my visiting, knackered now, felt a bit Groundhog Day as had same conversations with everyone :rotfl:.

We had a lovely lunch, new Beefeater overlooking a dock (not my one!). My friend is now 6mths gone and looks great. We are hoping to go up to hers before she gives birth for a mini baby shower.

Visited my friend from canada's parents, got my goodies my friend sent over :D, and some free wood for my parents as they had just chopped down a tree. They had booked their trip to her wedding in Bahamas - almost £3000 per person for 14 nights :eek: We are going to try find a cheaper deal and only go for 10 nights. Why do all my friend's get married abroad??! :rotfl:

When I got home my payslip was in the postbox, and it looks like I am now almost £50 a month better off since the new tax year/allowance  that'll go towards the holidays!

Starving now so going to make quick stirfry for tea.

    Have a good evening all
