The blue kittens are the rarest kind. They are not often seen and extremely difficult to obtain ;)

The optical illusion of blueness is a combination of them lying on a blue blanket in brilliant sunshine and my phone camera being absolute pants!

We get them on Friday :j

Well, as I suspected the redemption statement came through with the correct amount, but at least it's got an up to date figure for both parts of the account so I have updated my signature.
Have spent a fortune today but got good value if that makes sense. DS1 needed a school coat and bag and new trainers, DSs 2 & 3 needed school trousers and shoes. Went to a local outlet village and got the lot in one fell swoop. Good prices for each thing but seems an awful lot when added together. But all needed, and as my boys HATE shopping, I'm glad it's over with.

2 days til the kitties arrive :D
  • Had to take my cat to the vet this afternoon as she's had a sore eye intermittently for quite a while. Every time it's looked sore it was an evening or a weekend when the vet was shut, and when I was free to take her the eye was fine. Anyway, I took her today and they said it was an infection and gave me some antibiotic ointment to put in for a few weeks. I don't grudge paying for her to be healthy at all, but it was £38 for the examination and the ointment

  • Hi guys,

Haven't been on for a few days as have been So busy with my new babies! The kitties are absolutely adorable - I am in love :D. They are so full of fun, they'll play and play and play then suddenly collapse and sleep, even in the litter tray :rotfl:

TBH, my other cat is not terribly impressed about the whole business. Her eyes were nearly out on stalks when she first saw them. They've all had a sniff of each other and are mutually scared I think. Luckily, the house is big enough for them to ignore and avoid each other until they get a bit more used to each other. I've been through this before when I've introduced new adult cats to each other, and they always come round to it in the end.

Having quite a few MS days despite it being the summer holidays. Took youngest 2 DSs to see the final Harry Potter yesterday at our local cinema where all tickets are £3.50 on a Tuesday. Snuck in our own refreshments so doubly MS! My eldest DS did a football course all day Monday and Tuesday and is doing another one tomorrow and Friday. Both booked through the NHS childcare co-ordinator for £10 for each 2 day course rather than public price of £20 :T

Used our annual ticket just before it expired to get free entry into Beamish open air museum today (a living history recreated Victorian village complete with mine for those not from this part of the world).

Had a bit of disappointment from work at the weekend. I am interested in doing a counselling course at our local college as it would be very useful for work (I'm a palliative care nurse), and I had hoped that work would pay for all of it, or half of it considering how relevent it would be. They've said there's no money at all so can't pay for any of it, so I've got to decide whether to pay for it myself. It will be £412 or £784 depending on which course I chose. It would be really helpful for me to do it as counselling is something I'm interested in as a career progression, but need to make a decision quickly as it starts in September.

Enough ramblings for now - my feline bairns need me :D
  • Hi guys,

    Long time, no see.

Have been away in North Yorkshire for a week. Had a great time and were surprisingly lucky with the weather. Only Friday was wet so it was on with the waterproofs and wellies and out we went! Had some lovely days out, spent a bit but money saved a bit too - so a good balance, I think.

Got youngest 2 DSs new school shoes so that's all the school stuff sorted now. By Wed next week they'll all be back at school so normal service will be resumed.

Went to Mr L today and got a mountain of stuff - had to use one of the bigger trolleys to get it all in. It's such good value, I will never become a regular at any of the 'big 4' supermarkets again! Having said that, I like the big supermarkets special offers too, got 2 litre bottles of Bacardi (the only spirit I drink) for £13 each in Mr S and had a £2 off coupon so £12 each was not a bad bargain :)

We made a list of all those odd jobs around the house that you never seem to get round to doing and DH is manfully working his way through them. I vaccuumed and cleaned the car too whereas I often pay £15 or so to get it done for me, so I feel virtuous too.

The kittens are settling in very well and becoming used to us. Our other cat is scared of them (despite her being at least 3 times the size of them) and them of her so they're all giving each other a wide berth. Luckily there's plenty of space for them to avoid each other. We're giving our older cat lots of attention too, but she just keeps looking at us as if she's so appalled at us for what we have done! I know they'll get used to each other in the end but I do feel sorry for her.

The bank account transfer to First Direct is now complete. There have been a few hiccups but all is now sorted. I'm just relieved to be free of S**ta**er cos they were so bad. First Direct have a regular saving account where you can save £300 per month and get 8% interest if you have your current account with them so I'm off to open one of them.
  • Hi guys,

Well, have started at college on the counselling course I was dithering about. Have only done 1 week so far but looks like it will be very good. What with that, working nights, 3 DSs, the kittens, an allotment plus feeding and clothing everyone and giving the occasional flick round with a duster, time is a bit precious at the moment. Unfortunately, it has been my MS chums that have been neglected :(

Realistically, I can only update every now and then as I get time, but I am reading the diaries I subscribe to.

Went for a lovely walk the other day to pick brambles and got talking to a man in his garden (DH always says I'll talk to ANYONE), anyway, this lovely man had an even lovelier pear tree in his garden which I duly admired. He then gave me a huge bag of windfall pears - easily 4-5 lbs in weight. They were delicious - really sweet :D. So have spent this afternoon cooking with the rest before the boys scoff the lot. Have made 2 pear crumbles to go in the freezer, a pear upside down cake for today, and whilst I was in a baking mood I've made 30 oaty biscuits and 12 chocolate muffins!

    Nom nom nom :rotfl:

On the MFW front, made a £700 OP for July/August so balance just scraping £30 000 now. That means that the next OP will make the balance will start with a 2!! :D
