Abbey Debit Card

Just joined Abbey (for the £40), they have sent me a disgusting green debit card with a link logo on it.
My question is: where can I use it free of charge? At all link machines I would guess? But can I use it in the big four's network?
Excuse my ignorance, just never had a 'little bank's card before!
thanks in advance

Abbey don't charge you to use their cards to withdraw cash in the UK. You'll only be charged at "convenience" machines.
If green isn't for you you could always put a photo on your card! https://www.abbey.com/photocard0 -
fatboy have you used the photocard option yourself?
still looking for a decent one myself and running out of time but there has been a suggestion that the staff offer may be extended so not too bothered about it.

Same problem here, need a decent enough pic of my gf! One of the girls in our branch has got one of her kids, and the print quality is far better than I'd expected.0

So to clarify, there will be no charge at any 'main network' machines, that is LINK and the main bank machines (lloyds, natwest, hsbc and barclays). Is this right?0 -
Every UK bank is a member of Link. None of them charge for cash withdrawl.
A complete list of Link ATMs is at https://www.link.co.uk You can check which will charge a fee for those located in shops, pubs etc...0 -
A useful website - thanksIt should be noted that LINK is not responsible for customer charging - it is up to individual LINK members to decide their charging policy. All charges, whether applied by the cash machine owner or the card issuer, are notified using an on-screen message at the cash machine at the time of the transaction and you are always given the option of canceling the transaction without charge.Am I warned of the charge?
All cash machines give customers the option to cancel transactions to which a charge will be applied. LINK rules stipulate that an on-screen message, detailing all charges will always appear before the transaction is completed and the customer can then pull out of the transaction without charge. In addition to this, LINK Members have agreed that a sign saying 'this machine may charge you for LINK cash withdrawals' will be clearly visible to cardholders before a card is inserted in a surcharging ATM (either by physical notice on the machine or an up-front screen message, at the discretion of the ATM deployer).0
