    Landrover Disco with twin-tank WVO conversion (or do it yourself). Only needs diesel for starting/first couple of miles, then switch to WVO/biodiesel. You can get this for about 30 p/l (even off ebay) or from your local chippy/cafe (just google 'making wvo').

    Although Fourtraks seem to be getting harder to find and nice ones hold a Premium. 3.5ton towing aswell and pull like a train.

    Avoid the 3.0D Troopers thoughy unless there is proof of ALL the recall work being done... Otherwise you could be facing big bills.
    I had the eariler SWB 3.1TD and that was like a Tonka Toy... Easy to work on and parts are cheap enough through specialists....

    You don't need a twin-tank Disco, my old crate is an old 200 TDi, she's over 20yrs old now, but will run on 60 / 40 veg oil deisel mix.

    A vehicle that old will have most of the welding done, any other problems will be obvious to someone who knows what to look for.

    Join a owners forum for a make you like the look of, get to know common probs and things to check.

    What towing weight is required? You may be best off with a pre 2001 Daihatsu fourtrak. Manual Kia Sorrento has 3.5 tonnes towing weight I think- but heavy on tax.
