Hi all,
I wonder if anyone can help with this?
Last week I received a text message from Past Due Credit Solutions asking me to contact them on an 0844 number regarding an "urgent matter" and quoting a reference number. I googled them, saw a lot of posts about them being scammers, and not being aware of owing anyone anything I deleted it.
Today, my sister (who lives several hundred miles away) called, saying she'd received a letter from this outfit addressed to me at her address. We haven't lived together at that address, I haven't even visited yet (bad sister, I know!), but she did order my birthday present online a few weeks ago, to be delivered to my home but invoiced to her. The letter says they are chasing a small debt relating to the BT landline I had at my previous address, which I left 18 months ago.
Now, when I moved out I had the usual "your contract automatically renewed without us telling you so now you owe us £75" argument with BT, and actually contacted the MSE forum email address to resolve ths issue. I received a call a few days later assuring me that the fee had been waived and that everything was sorted. Foolishly, I forgot to ask for a name or reference number or anything
Nothing was ever confirmed in writing.
Is this just a coincidence? I've read that PDCS are "fishers", so this could just be that - the amount in question is under £40, so it wouldn't be a hardship to pay it just to get them off my case. Should I contact them? I haven't had any letters from them to my address, just this "final demand" to my sister's address. I don't want the heavies turning up on her doorstep! Or do I contact BT to find out if they are chasing me for a debt. I've had no letters from BT, or phonecalls, and I know they have my mobile number because they've rung me on it before.
Any advice is appreciated please!!
Thankyou,
Tanya
