Kitchen quoted at £8000!!! can I get one cheaper?

I've been quoted £8000 for a new kitchen by "kutchen haus" - it's only 12 base units. Don't get me wrong the kitchen looked great but I cannot afford that kind of figure - is there anywhere I can purchase the same quality units/carcases for less?? I was hoping to get something of similar standard for half that figure, is that me dreaming or is it a possibility?
Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Shop around. I guarantee you can get cheaper than that.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

yes i have looked else where and obviously if I went to b&q or wickes I could get one for a fraction of the quoted price but my current kitchen is from b&q but just doesn't cut the mustard i.e. you can tell it's cheap. I'm prepared to spend a few more quid but still want it to be good value...0

Hi Dork
Kutchen Haus supply German kitchens made by the biggest kitchen manufacturer in Europe called Nobilia, they produce 2,200 kitchens per day! 1 In 3 kitchens fitted in Germany come from Nobilia. I am sure you will find an independent kitchen specialist who sells Nobilia do the same kitchen for a bit less money than Kutchen Haus. Without question though you will not get the same style and quality as the Nobilia kitchen for half the money.
What does this quote from KH include? Cabinetry, worktop, appliances and fitting?

The quote includes; worktop, cabinets and appliances - but no fitting. With regard to the appliances - I can buy these for a fraction of the price online than i'd be charged by kutchenhaus.
Is there anywhere I can source good quality carcases/cabinets and doors independently online??0 -

Hi Dork
Ok, I thought it must be with worktop and appliances - still sounds a bit expensive though. What door is it you chose and what type of worktop?
What appliances do you want? Because if its Neff (I'm only saying Neff as I know KH do a lot of Neff) then you should be able to get these as part of a kitchen from an independent cheaper than any online seller.
With regard to getting carcasses and doors online, you won't get German quality products online cheap. Basically if you want German then you pay German prices whether online or not.

The door was ultra high gloss and the worktop laminate. I'm not too fussed about the make of the appliances to be fair, so long as they look half decent and do their job.
Can I get comparable British made cabinets for less? Can't believe I'm having to ask the question! what ever happened to quality British engineering?! Anyway I digress, so if you were going to buy a kitchen for similar budget where would you go?0 -
8k does sound like alot for a 12 base unit kitchen, but they are really good quality units. I would as CK designer suggests, trawl the independents to see if you could get the same for a bit less.
Alternatively, Wickes to order carcasses are good quality (18mm furniture grade chipboard, solid back panels) for a lot cheaper, but the fascia probably wont be quite as good. If you know someone in the trade, Benchmarx do exactly the same kitchens as Wickes for even less. Have bought one recently and visitors cant believe it came from a shed.0 -
Have a look at diy-kitchens.co.uk. Excellent British made cabinets and probably about half the price

Hi
I would go for a Howdens kitchen, i purchased a cream gloss one and it looks fab. - Cost 2k for similar b&q one it was 4.5k
You may went to get a tradesman in who has an account as thney dont sell to general public but any good fitter will have an account there and most will be happy to pass on most of the discount.
Be warned - Check to goods off when delivered and know exactly what you want as they ordered me more than I needed and then told me some bullsh!t when I went to return a few items that the returns are worthless as I purchased a package. ( they were more than happpy to take my money at time of sale )0
