Laminate flooring - how long to acclimatise?

I've decided at the last minute to lay laminate in my son's bedroom. The carpet quote was more expensive than I would have liked and wipe clean is probably better anyway.

He's away this weekend so was hoping to forge ahead and get it done however I notice most places stating that you have to leave the laminate in the room in the packet for 48 hours before starting.

Is this really correct? Does it really take something 48 hours to come to room temperature. What if I take it out the packet? Does it acclimatise quicker? Could manage 24 hours - would that be enough?

Thank you for any help.

You need to follow the guidelines on the packaging. If you don't let it acclimatise properly, it may start to bow and warp when it is in place. Resulting in you having to replace the flooring. The supplier will not be responsible if this happens and they can check the moisture content quite accurately if there is a dispute.
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

I run Property Maintenance Company and have laid literally thousands of square metres of laminate flooring. Not once have I let it acclimatise and I've never had a single call back. You just need to ensure you have a 10mm gap all the way round the edge and this will allow foir any expansion.
Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.

......because if you don't, then your nicley-laid laminate flooring WILL bow and warp-and it can happen overnight, or within a few hours!
