Hi
I have a Canon MP750 printer. Recently it has satarted to show an error message "Waste ink near full press OK"
Pressing OK gets the printer going. The message come back later.
On Google there are comments about taking it back to Canon (not where I purchased it) or dismantling the printer (not my skillset) or suggestions that it is possible to re-set a page counter, all cooments are from US users.
Does anyone have any ideas relevant to the UK please

    This is here

Solution: You can reset the waste ink tank counter yourself. Be aware that this doesn't actually empty the waste ink tank itself (a little felt pad deep inside your printer), but it does allow you to continue printing.

    1: Power off printer
2: Hold Resume button then press and hold POWER, the beeper will sound once.
3: Hold POWER and release RESUME
4: Press RESUME twice, then release all buttons
5: When the indicator lights steady, press RESUME three or four times. The indicator should be orange.
6: Press Power to set data

To actually drain the waste ink tank, you'll need to take your printer to pieces and find, clean, wash and dry the felt pads found in the base of the printer. This is a complicated procedure, but it is a good idea to do it if you're technically minded. Many people have just reset the code without actually draining the pads and very few have run into problems as a result. If you do this, you risk damaging your printer and/or the surface it sits on if the pads absorb too much ink. However, if you're going to buy a new printer anyway, you might just reset the code and stand it on a piece of paper or card. It's up to you, just understand the risks.

Couldn't get the proposed method to work but after more searching found this

Resetting Canon MP750 procedure/code for Waste Ink Full, Follow this step to fix it:
    Service Menu
    Press MENU-SCAN-COPY-SCAN
Cycle through options to #7 PRINTER, Press OK
Cycle through options to #5 (Ink Abs Cap) Press OK
It should say “SUCTION” on the screen. Enter “0″ (Zero). Now either press OK
Turn printer off and then back on.

This seems to have worked, at least so far......

    Thanks Santer

thanks for this. I see it. Not the most obvious of markings though; I've never had to use it!
The second method is working OK at the moment.

Usually the ink drains into a big thick felt type sheet.
Can be replaced by similar or dried out but always difficult to get the printer back together .
Countdown clock is based not upon the sheet being full of ink and thats mostly dried ink anyway but the number of uses the print head makes .
