Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Friday 22nd April. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all
Looks like it might be sunny today, no rushing to the station for the next week as Hubby is on holiday now.
Sat here with a cuppa at the moment, but will do a full english breakfast for hubby soon, fish fed & DW unloaded, I'll do some more washing later, by hand as the WM needs looking at. DD came over yesterday with the DFC, they played in the garden all afternoon apart from the littlest, he slept in my camping cot. I gave DD £10 for them in lieu of Easter eggs, she'll buy them a small egg each & use the rest on craft activities, she took a cottage pie & box of HM biscuits home with her.
No idea what we'll do today, gardening probably.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning Hester and all who follow

Up at 6.30am on a bank holiday, grrr!

Anyway, looks like it might well be another beautiful day here :)

I need to get cracking with uni work but will split it up with breaks to sunbathe on balcony this morning, and a wander by beach this afternoon.

OS wise - WM is on, DW been loaded and will go on tonight as not quite full yet, kicthen surfaced wiped, need to sort a bit of paperwork, maybe pop to aldi or lidl for salady bits too.

Off back to bed for hour with book and cuppa before my day officiallly starts.

    Have a great day all

I forgot to say yesterday the BIL has a smashed cheekbone & a perforated ear drum & the story that he slipped down stairs is looking more & more unlikely! DD & I had a whingefest yesterday about how weird our respective inlaws are!

    Good morning everyone,

    Glorious looking day again today.

Washing & drying all up to date:)

Had a great day with visitors yesterday. Need another tidy up today before tomorrow's visitors.

Just the three of us today, so it will be very quiet. Fish pie for dinner tonight.

Have a good day peeps, Silver x

    Morning everyone

Halight - good to see you posting again x

HH - be nice to have a more relaxed lifestyle for a few days, enjoy x

Woke up at 5am, so got up, DH now up with first cuppa of the day. DS1 still in his pit and DS2 gone to SIL's for a sleepover with his cousin, should be collecting him tomorrow morning - if she can cope with 2 boisterous boys until then! Both cars now back from the garage, hopefully all sorted - cost a small fortune but that's what happens unfortunately.

Dinner last night was hot new potatoes, HM bacon quiche, and salad, nice as haven't had that for ages. Made a tray of jam tarts with leftover pastry too. DH going to continue with the painting today, he's working tomorrow morning so I'll go and do food shop then. Got ironing mountain done yesterday, but last wash wasn't dry enough to iron so that to do today and want to strip DS2's bed and ours. Should shove the hoover round too, will see how I feel in a bit.

DH and DS1 will be having battered fish, chips and beans, I'll be having plain fish, jacket and veg.

Potatoes really coming on nicely and other plants too, just keeping watch on the night time temps though!

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

    Morning!

First off has anyone heard from JackieG after her kamikaze stairs descent? Hope she's ok!!!

HH That sounds like quite some injuries there for your BIL, I hope you manage to get it sorted.

Well a ruined day for me yesterday, Had booked myself a training afternoon at local hospital because one of my certificates is OOD and it was requested by the people i'll be working for next week, anyway I got about five minutes away and had to come home quickly!! Been sooo poorly with a stomach upset yuk yuk yuk!

Feeling slightly better this morning though not totally gone, just really hungry and terrified to eat!!

Had made all-sorts of plans for the afternoon too!

Anyway my cousin is coming to stay today for a week so a good excuse for a tidy and might start bagging belongings up as we're SUPPOSED to be completing on the house Thursday - we shall see

going to go sort a meal plan, have managed to empty one of the freezers pre moving so i'd like to clean and switch that one off now. Really need to go shopping with all my coppers as didn't make it yesterday. Had to send OH to work today with money for lunch because we literally have nothing for him to take  Still, I didn't see him complaining!!

Also going to plant some more tomatoes and earth up my potatoes in their pots because I've been a but neglectful :p

Have a lovely bank holiday all, :D

What on earth do you think happened to him? run over? in a fight? How very strange........

    Morning my lovelies.

Early start for me as DD was woken by the cat at 5.30am She's a real light sleeper unlike DS so in future her door will not be left open for cat to wander in (can't shut cat up as she's worked out how to open dining room door ). Poor kitty keeps having mexican stand off's with the local cats. she's only a wee thing and a bit timid so I have taken to intervening ;)

Given my early start there is dough in the BM, spag bol prepped and now in SC. Thought it was too early to get the vac out but will do that later ;)
DS is currently stropping as he wants to be taken to soft play. Apparantly he won't be anybody's friend if they won't take him to soft play. C'est la vie  :rotfl: Was going to take him to the park but if he carries on he won't be going anywhere........

    Have wittered on enough :o
Hugs and spoons all round. Have a good day OS or not. Hope not too many of you are having to work on this lovely Good Friday :)

    Morning All,

I can report I am fine thank you, but I have an awful headache this morning, don't know if it is related or not. OH says I have a small red line on my head where I bumped, so I have a war wound :j how cool is that? ;)

Hester that sounds awful, like Bitsy, my mind boggles at what it could have been!

Miecherox watch yourself today, hope you feel better soon. x

I baked up a storm last night for OH to take to work today - 168 portions of tablet, caramel cakes and gingerbread, the house smells like the air is saturated with sugar this morning :)

I am meant to be going for a wee drive today to meet a couple of MSE friends who are on holiday and staying about half an hour away today, but I have loads to do and my head is sore, so I will see how I feel in an hour - it was a bit of a spur of the moment thing, and they are off travelling today so I won't feel too bad about it although I would really love tom meet them in real life :D We'll see how the morning pans out....

If not, I have DS1's bedroom to get stuck into and a million and one things to do in the garden.

Hope everyone has a good day.

    Jackie XXX

EDIT - forgot to update on BIL - it sounds good, it seems they probably misdiagnosed him at the first hospital  and he has a blockage rather than a mass. He is seeing the consultant today and my sister has written him a list of questions as he has been hopeless about asking the right ones, so hopefully the news will all be good.

    Good Morning all,

JackieG hope your headache clears and glad to hear things are more positive with your BIL
HH those kind of injuries sound like a fight:eek:
Miecherox fingers crossed for your exchange on Thursday

Was planning a day out with youngest son today but he has woke up with a cold and sore throat (from me I'm afraid) so he has had a warm drink and gone for a shower. We will just stay home if he doesn't feel better.
Will nip to Mr A's today for a few bits.

Still doing low GI, doesn't feel like a diet any more, just the way I eat which is great. Have now dropped into the next stone down and lost a total of about 12 lbs and feel much better for it:T

another glorious day, DH off to work at silly o'clock so will make him something nice for tea, not sure what yet, off to have a rummage.

    have a lovely Friday xJ
